This will help extend the life of your boiler and prevent unexpected breakdowns. It will help optimise energy efficiency, ensure it is combusting fuel safely minimising the risk of carbon-monoxide poisoning as this gas cannot be detected by the human senses.
What does the engineer do during a boiler service?
A boiler service consists of boiler components being removed checked for any issues and cleaned before being put back together.
Components that are checked are the heat exchanger, main burner, flue ways and ignition pins. Also heating water quality is checked and chemical protection inhibitors added if necessary.
Tests are undertaken to check the boiler pressure and heat input, our engineer will make a record of this.
A boiler service takes on average one hour to complete.
Rules and regulations
If you are a tenant your landlord responsible to have a gas safety certificate carried out annually. This is by law to ensure there boilers are running safely and are maintained. A CO2 alarm should also be fitted by recommendation to ensure it is combusting fuel safely minimising the risk of carbon-monoxide poisoning as this gas cannot be detected by the human senses.
